HOW MANY FACTORIES MANUFACTURE KLUFT?
E.S. Kluft & Company and parent company of Kluft Mattress Company, hand craft their mattresses in three United States factories:
・East coast retailers are supplied from the manufacturing facility in Pennsylvania.
・West coast retailers are supplied from the manufacturing facility in California.
・Central retailers are supplied from the manufacturing facility in Texas.
WHAT ARE THE DIMENSIONS OF YOUR BEDS?
All sizes are industry standard:
・Twin Mattress: 38” x 75”
・Twin XL Mattress: 38” x 80”
・Full Mattress: 53” x 75”
・Queen Mattress: 60” x 80”
・King Mattress: 76” x 80”
・California King Mattress: 72” x 84”

Note: Due to the handcrafted nature of all mattresses sold by E.S. Kluft & Company, the universal mattress sizes noted are approximate and allowed +/- ¾” tolerance. All measurements referenced are taken from the bottom of the mattress or box and are taken from edge to edge or side to side.

HOW ARE THE MATTRESS FOUNDATIONS CONSTRUCTED?
We manufacture two different types of foundations. The foundations are matched to a specific model mattress:
・Wood stabilizer—upholstered in heavy duty foam. This contains no modules and is designed to provide rigid support. These foundations are used with some of our innerspring and latex models.
・8-way hand tied—an all-coil foundation with the 8 ¾” gauge coils tied into place for stability. Used in our ultra-premium models, each foundation is upholstered in cotton, utilizes Italian twine to “tie” the coils.
HOW ARE KLUFT MATTRESSES CONSTRUCTED?
We offer several different collections, each with their own unique mattress construction characteristics. Each collection provides the finest support system—whether it includes an all-coil, foam or Latex core. The type of comfort materials will vary based on the collection criterion and the “feel” and level of luxury we are seeking to provide. These collections may be rather basic or traditional in engineering or offer our patented design featuring the Kluft Lift™.

This Kluft Lift™ patented design provides a coil system that is not restricted, allowing for greater conformance and superior support. When body weight is applied, the coils literally “lift” and supportively contour to the body. Tufting by hand compresses the comfort layers, minimizing our need for adhesives and the development of deep body contours. This customized engineering approach offers better support and fewer deep body contours—and is far superior to our competitors’ construction.

Kluft utilizes the highest quality of natural, eco-friendly and modern state-of-the-art fabrics and components to hand construct our mattresses. Each mattress is crafted by hand to make sure that every detail of your mattress is impeccable and provide you with the look of luxury and comfort you expect as a discerning client.

HOW LONG WILL MY KLUFT MATTRESS LAST?
Our mattresses are built to last 10–15 years with normal usage. By industry standards, mattresses generally will last from 8–10 years. Individual comfort needs change over time. If the mattress isn’t as comfortable as it once was or you are waking with morning aches and pains, it may be time to purchase a new mattress.
ARE KLUFT MATTRESSES FLAME RETARDANT?
Our mattresses and foundations are all flame retardant as required by federal law. Our flame retardant is not an applied chemical or spray—rather a naturally derived, cellulose/silica-based barrier fiber that meets the EPA standards for safety.
DO YOUR MATTRESSES OFF-GAS?
Our suppliers minimize any off gassing during their curing process.
Note: Kluft is listed on the Certi-Pur US® website as utilizing foams meeting guidelines.
DO YOU HAVE AN ORGANIC MATTRESS?
While our mattresses are not organic, we attempt to manufacture products that are eco-friendly utilizing manufacturing methods and materials that are environmentally responsible.
・Many of our models offer organic components, such as cotton.
・We use fabrics and latex that are from Oeko-Tex certified suppliers.
・Our flame retardant barriers are naturally derived, making them eco-friendlier than those mattresses that contain chemicals.
・Each specific mattress model differs in components utilized.
ARE THERE ORGANIC MATERIALS IN YOUR MATTRESSES?
We do not make 100% natural or organic mattresses. However, you’ll find many of the structural and comfort levels of our mattresses include natural Talalay latex, wool, cotton and other natural fibers.

All of our mattresses are made with various inorganic materials including foam. We always use high-quality upholstery grade foam to create our uniquely long-lasting comfort. Foam is also placed around the perimeter of the mattress to provide firmer edge support.

WHAT IS TALALAY LATEX?
Celsion™ is a temperature regulating Talalay latex foam. The high-technology phase change material in the foam regulates body temperature. Phase change will either cool or warm the sleeper by changing its viscosity depending on the optimal body temperature.

The Talalay process adds two steps. After the latex is poured, the mold is sealed and the process is continued in a vacuum chamber. The mold is then flash-frozen before it’s baked. Talalay Latex has a more consistent cell structure from top to bottom and edge to edge providing improved consistency in the finished product. It is most often used within Kluft mattress comfort layers.

WHAT IS POLYURETHANE?
Polyurethane is a leading member of the wide-ranging and highly diverse family of polymers or plastics. Polyurethane can be solid or have an open cellular structure (more commonly known as foam). Foams can be flexible or rigid and are best known for supporting our body in mattresses, upholstered furniture and car seats.
WHY IS KLUFT HAND-TUFTING AN EXCEPTIONAL BENEFIT?
Most of Kluft mattresses are hand tufted—compressing and securing the upholstery in place for exceptional back support, eliminating sag, shifting upholstery materials and minimizing body impressions. The tuft tape ties together the top fabric to the innerspring—including all of the upholstery and the motion dampening base foam—with the bottom fabric. This laborious, time-consuming process pre-compresses the upholstery layers while eliminating artificial loft.
WHAT IS A MICRO COIL?
Micro coils are designed specifically for use as part of the comfort layer. They are made from thinner more flexible steel coils. They offer additional pressure relief and comfort, and also have a high level of resilience/durability. Micro coils are not prone to body impressions and are placed above the “main” coil system.
WHAT ARE POCKET COILS? WHY DOES KLUFT USE DIFFERENT COIL GAUGES IN THEIR POCKET COILS?
Pocket coils are individually wrapped fabric coils designed to minimize friction and maximize strength. The coils provide consistent distribution of support as well as good motion isolation. Kluft uses higher gauge pre-compressed pocket coils in selected models and a thicker lower gauge coil in another model, depending on the “feel” we are providing. Both coil gauges are precision made, exclusive to Kluft and use high carbon, heat-tempering steel.
WHY DO MATTRESS HEIGHTS VARY?
Mattresses crafted by hand, may vary slightly during production. On a hand-crafted mattress, the cover of the mattress is pulled and set in place by hand before it is sewn in. Additionally, when the foams that we use are taken out of their sealed bags, they need some time to settle into their position. Both of these processes can simply cause a slight variation to the height or width. These variations are negligible and have no impact on quality or comfort.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN AIRELOOM AND A KLUFT BED?
Aireloom and Kluft are two brands manufactured by E.S. Kluft & Company. Each brand is designed to occupy a specific position in the marketplace. While each brand is manufactured in the same facility to exacting standards, each mattress offers unique construction, components and its signature comfort.

QUESTIONS YOU SHOULD ASK
・How does the construction of the mattress provide proper back and body support?
・How is the inside of the mattress constructed to minimize tossing and turning?
IMPORTANT THINGS TO CONSIDER WHILE MATTRESS SHOPPING
・Innerspring mattresses with tempered coils to retain strength and prevent mattress sag.
・A mattress that meets Federal Flammability guidelines.
・A mattress that uses barrier fabric and/or fiber and meets flammability guidelines versus one treated with chemicals.
・Know the types of mattresses: traditional innerspring, hybrid (half foam/half springs) or latex/all foam.
WILL A KLUFT MATTRESS WORK ON MY EXISTING BOX SPRING OR FOUNDATION?
We generally recommend purchasing our entire system, both mattress and foundation. If your box spring/foundation is in very good condition–meaning that it is sturdy, has absolutely no sagging and provides proper support for the mattress, it should work fine. Our mattress warranty remains in place even when using your old foundation/box spring as long as it meets the requirements for box springs/foundations in the Kluft warranty.

Please note: The “feel” of your mattress will be affected when used on a support system or foundation other than on which it was displayed at your retailer.

DO I NEED A NEW FOUNDATION?
The foundation is the support for your mattress. If the foundation is not supportive it will cause the mattress to lose support and comfort. A foundation that is worn out and unsupportive will affect or can void the new mattress warranty.
DO I HAVE THE RIGHT FRAME?
Use of the incorrect mattress frame will void your warranty. Full, Queen and King size mattresses require a metal bed frame or bed base that has a rigid center support as well as support for the head, foot and sides. The proper center support must have two extended center legs from the base of the unit to the floor. Any Full, Queen or King frame that does not have a metal center support must use at least 5 hardwood (i.e., oak or ash) slats (1×4’s) with center supports extending to the floor. If your current frame does not meet these specifications, please call your salesperson immediately so that a Kluft foundation may be added to your order in time for delivery.
WILL KLUFT MATTRESSES WORK ON AN ADJUSTABLE BASE?
Yes, with the exception of a few models, Kluft mattresses do conform to an adjustable base. However, the longevity of a Kluft mattress is best when using a Kluft base. For more specifics on which mattresses work best with your own base, please consult your mattress retailer.
CAN KLUFT MATTRESSES BE USED ON A PLATFORM BED?
Yes, Kluft mattresses can be placed on a platform bed. However, the longevity of a Kluft mattress is best when using a Kluft base. Please view your mattress warranty for proper support instructions.
I WANT A MATTRESS COMPARABLE TO THE ONE I HAVE NOW, IS THAT POSSIBLE?
With all the changes today in upholstery composition, coil gauge and significant upgrades in materials, we are unable to provide a product that is exactly the same as the one you may have purchased several years ago. We strive to perfect our premium level of construction and offer the finest components available. Please visit a retailer near you to view our current elite selection of mattresses.

IF I HAVE AN ISSUE WITH MY MATTRESS, WHAT SHOULD I DO?
・Check the law tag to confirm you received the correct mattress model based on your order.
・Adjust your foundation so that it is “flat and plumb” in the frame.
・Adjust your frame so that is tight and confirm everything is assembled properly.

If you continue to experience an issue, contact your mattress retailer for resolution of any other questions you may have.

SHOULD I FLIP MY KLUFT MATTRESS?
Please do not flip your mattress. Rather you should rotate your mattress 180-degrees (from head to toe) every three months to avoid any indentations. If you feel like your mattress is beginning to wear unevenly, we recommend rotating it more often.
HOW SHOULD I CLEAN MY MATTRESS?
If you spill liquid on your mattress, please take the following steps. The mattress should never become wet, so we cannot promise that these steps will completely remove the stain or odor.
・If your mattress has a cover, first remove the cover and wash it in cold water with mild detergent. Hang dry for best results. Never use bleach or bleaching products with the cover.
・After the cover has been removed, soak up as much of the liquid as possible using towels. This may require pressing down on the material with the towel(s) to release the moisture.
・Once excess moisture is removed, let the mattress air dry. To speed up the drying process, you can use a fan to blow cool air on the mattress.
CAN I USE AN ELECTRIC BLANKET OR HEATING PAD WITH MY MATTRESS?
We do not recommend using an electric blanket or heating pad with your mattress. Due to the temperature-sensitivity of the materials we use, adding high heat can hinder its ability to react to your body temperature and conform to your body shape. If you ever do use an electric blanket or heating pad, we recommend limiting its use to 30 minutes. Only use an electric blanket or heating pad on low or medium heat.
I HAVE ONLY HAD MY BED A FEW WEEKS, WHY ARE THERE ALREADY IMPRESSIONS IN MY MATTRESS?
Indentations in the mattress (body impressions) are normal within the first few weeks of owning a new mattress. Mattresses must be rotated often—every two weeks for the first three months of use and every month thereafter. Body impressions of up to 1 ½ inch deep will remain throughout the life of the mattress and are not a warranty concern. Please visit our mattress care page or our warranty page for more information.
DO I NEED A MATTRESS PROTECTOR?
Mattress protectors are designed to inhibit dust mites, bed bugs, allergens, mold, mildew, bacteria and dead skin cells from building up in your mattress. The mattress protector will protect your investment. Mattresses that become stained or unsanitary at the time will void the mattress comfort and warranty guarantees. Be advised the mattress protector and/or mattress pad may slightly alter the feel of your mattress.
ARE THERE ANY SHEETS YOU WOULD RECOMMEND?
You can purchase sheets from any retailer however we recommend you confirm that the sheets are designed for a deep pocket mattress before purchasing. Deep pocket mattress sheets are designed for mattresses that are 14 to 15 ½” in height.
WHY IS MY MATTRESS MAKING A SQUEAKING NOISE?
Most likely the noise is coming from the frame or cross slats where the foundation is rubbing on the hardware. The best way to isolate the source of the noise is to lay the foundation and the mattress on the floor and secure everything separately.
